The adventure to find "The Dress" was far easier than I ever imagined. While Nate and I were east coast visiting I arranged a day to shop with my friend Christie, aka "Mahoney". There are so many versions of Christie's in our lives we often refer to her as "Mahoney". Mahoney lovingly agreed to drive me around and give her expert opinion, she is so helpful.
The first stop was a pricey boutique in Rockville, MD. It offered some great options, but all of the dresses were only available in large sizes so it was tough to visualize myself in them. The sales associate wouldn't allow us to take any pictures because they were designer dresses. After an hour or more and about 12 dresses later we moved on to the 2nd stop. My expectations for the day were to get a better idea of what style of dress I wanted. I had an idea of what I was looking for in my mind, but hadn't see it in person, yet. So off to our 2nd stop, David's Bridal. We walked in and we were immediately greeted and given a sales Representative, Amanda. She was so friendly and helpful it was like shopping with my two best friends. We each went to different areas and grabbed what seemed like it might be an option. Amanda and Mahoney would hold up a dress and I would nod yes or no and within 20 minutes I was in the dressing room trying on the dresses. I got to the 2nd dress and just knew from the moment I put it on, THIS IS IT! I looked at Mahoney and Amanda and said, "I'll still try the others on and then come back to this one to be sure, but this is it!" We took lots of pictures, no big name designer dresses here and no big price tags either. Made it through all the dresses and and yes, it was still the one. I couldn't decide whether I was more excited about the dress or the fact Mahoney found it on the sale rack for $99!!!! It was all coming together, I was and am so elated.
We were heading back home to Denver the following morning, I thought about carrying the dress on the airplane and decided the dress will have to be pressed before the wedding anyway. We opted to folded it into the suitcase and check it with our other bags. The dress made it home safe and sound and is awaiting the big day in our closet here in Denver...and NO Nate hasn't seen the dress!
